For multisite organizations, administer all your systems from a central location.
Samsung OfficeServ telephony systems can lower communication costs by reducing long distance toll charges by sending voice calls over your existing data network. Voice trunks can also be shared between sites and thereby reducing the number of leased phone lines.
Secure
Samsung OfficeServ 7000 series incorporates sophisticated data security features which effectively protect the voice switch from these kinds of attacks:
- Integrated VPN tunnelling and encryption
- Pre-configured firewall and packet filtering
- Intrusion detection and protection
By integrating these features right into a converged voice switch they can be deployed out of the box to protect the voice solution from unwanted attention. Customers can move to VoIP without exposing the system to potential hack attacks.
The integrated firewall filters traffic going through the system so that certain suspect applications will simply be dropped before they can get through to the protected voice components. Remote sites can be linked using the integrated VPN tunnelling and encryption capabilities of the system so that IP addresses can be disguised in such a way that hackers cannot determine IP addresses. The result - company communications are secure.
The Intrusion detection system (IDS) uses a rules engine to scan packet contents, searching for known signatures. If a suspect IP packet is discovered, the system takes immediate action, alerting the system administrator (in-house or outside) that a potential intrusion has taken place. The system also takes preventative action to block any further attack from this source. The advantage of a system that combines voice and data security means that denial of service attacks can be detected and prevented before they might affect availability of the system.

Samsung OfficeServ 7000 series is designed for flexibility and functionality on a single IP communications platform, the modular design and architecture allows multi-site businesses with remote branch offices to seamlessly integrate all offices into a single Unified Communications system. This advanced system allows you to add powerful applications that provide remote Government workers and branch offices with the same voice and data capabilities as the main site.
Mobility
Samsung’s mobility solutions keep mobile Government workers connected via handsets, laptops or mobiles when away from their desks.
For Government staff that are mobile within the workplace, Samsung wireless mobility solutions allow them complete freedom to move around the office, while still being able to take and make calls, and access systems features.

Luther College: A Case Study in Samsung’s Excellence in Supporting Education
Luther College is a prestigious Melbourne private school, educating boys and girls for over 40 years. When the school’s administration decided to build an ungraded middle school, they noticed the need for upgraded communication systems and telephony connectivity.
Samsung Communications in partnership with Samsung Communications Centre Melbourne, transformed the school from using out dated analogue communication systems to the OfficeServ 7400 telephony system, supporting Microsoft Office Communications Server and Exchange 2007 software. Luther College’s Director of IT supervised the transition, and could not be happier with the results that the Samsung OfficeServ delivers.
Luther College now enjoys a streamlined and reliable communication system which provides:
- Efficiency, flexibility for staff
- Improved communication across the larger based organisation
- Simplified management and communication for all office based and mobile staff
- Cost saving by utilising centralised infrastructure
- Guaranteed future-proofing with the OfficeServ platform
- Access to immediate support and customer care.
In a constant bid to increase productivity for teachers and convenience for students across the Luther College campus, the College will soon implement Microsoft Lync 2010 and Samsung Xchange. Samsung Xchange is a personal productivity tool that integrates database, IT and computing resources with Samsung OfficeServ telephone systems.
More recently Luther College took out the people’s choice award at Optus’ ultimate IT challenge, the school received 217 ‘likes’ on Facebook after the Australian public was asked to cast their vote on their favourite awards entry.
The Luther College’s chief technology officer, Christopher Topp, said the award was a large step forward for the education sector. “We need high availability 365 days a year, 24/7, and that’s basically what we offer as a solution through the Luther College network,” he said. “In order to do that, we have to make sure we work with partners who can stand up to the rigors of education, and to the day-in day-out operation without any failure.”
